The Rejuvenation of Downtown Midland

Located in the heart of Georgian Bay – a pleasant drive off highway 400 – you’ll find the picturesque and treasured community of Midland. Boasting eateries, retail shops, and a lovely working waterfront, it’s no wonder it’s become a beloved four-season destination. In the winter months, Midland transforms into a snowy wonderland, while summers highlight the beautiful beaches and waterways. Sand or snow – Midland is the place to go.

With the wrap of a recent revitalization program, the streets of Downtown Midland have a refreshing new look. It’s as if the whole downtown core returned from a day at the spa. New banners and floral planters line the streets as part of the BIA’s beautification agenda, and the BIA is eager to showcase its new look to tourists and locals.

Along King Street, and the surrounding strips, you’ll find endless ways to eat, drink, and play (not to mention, relax, and find support for those ‘must do’ items on your checklist).

For ‘quick bites’ try the legendary mile-high corned beef on rye from Dino’s Fresh Food Deli or Dillions Wood Fired Pizza (by the way, they have an Asian Smoked Duck Salad that is *kisses fingers*. MegaMindful Living has a full plant-based menu made with ingredients from local businesses, and Lilly’s Italian Eatery is a beautiful spot for date night. Out-of-towners can bring home gifts from The Elegant Gourmet (did someone say handmade Belgian chocolate?) or infused olive oil from Olive Oil Co. (don’t forget to hit their fresh olive oil & aged balsamic vinegar tasting bar). Downtownmidland.ca has a full directory of shops, restaurants, and services – so be sure to check it out before making your visit, you don’t want to miss something special!

Throughout the upcoming holiday season, the BIA has several events planned to bring people into downtown Midland. For updated information, visit their Instagram @downtown_midland or their website.
