Local Oakville Musician to Release 2nd Album

Patrick Ballantyne is an Oakville based singer-songwriter who has written with Big Sugar, The Trews, and Timothy Chaisson. He is preparing to release his second album. On April 17th, he will preview the new songs to his hometown at a show at the Moonshine cafe (137 Kerr Street).

He has been writing songs since he first picked up a guitar at the age of 14. Heavily influenced by the sounds of CKLW, the radio station that brought so much great music to the Windsor/ Detroit area, you can hear echoes of the motor cities in his timeless songs.

Early on, he forged a strong bond with Gordie Johnson who later formed Big Sugar and Grady. Together they have written songs that have become staples of Canadian radio, including “If I Had My Way”, “Girlwatcher”, “I Want You Now” and “All Hell For a Basement”.

Patrick also co-wrote the Trews’ single “Poor Old Broken Hearted Me” which charted well for the band in 2007. Most recently, β€œBeat This Heart,” co-written with Tim Chaisson, received nominations in the category of β€˜song of the year’ by the East Coast Music Association and Music PEI.
