Local Remembrance Day Ceremonies

Please take a moment to honour the men and women who fought for our freedom on Remembrance Day. Lest We Forget.


November 11, 2014 – Event Information

9:00 a.m. – Sunrise Remembrance Day Service, Spencer Smith Park

Burl-Oak Naval Veterans are holding a 30 minute ceremony at the Naval Ships Memorial Monument in Spencer Smith Park at Burlington’s Downtown Waterfront. All are welcome to attend.

10:30 a.m. – Remembrance Day Parade begins

Starts at Central Public School (Down Brant to Elgin – Elgin to Locust – Locust to Ontario).

11:00 a.m. – Remembrance Day Service at the Cenotaph, City Hall

The Royal Canadian Legion is holding a 45-60 minute ceremony at the Cenotaph, just outside City Hall (426 Brant St.). All are welcome to attend.

Bronte Legion ceremony, November 9, 11 a.m.

Meet at the Legion-79 on Jones Street at 10 a.m. Fall in on the street at the Legion at 10:30 a.m. and march to the Cenotaph on Lakeshore Road at Bronte Harbour for 11 a.m. service. After the service, march back to the Legion and a light lunch will be served to all those who participate. The public is invited.

George’s Square ceremony, November 11, 10:30 a.m.

Parade of veterans starts at Centennial Square, intersection of Church and Navy streets, and ends at George’s Square, on Trafalgar Road between Summer and Palmer avenues.
Hosted by Oakville Legion Branch 114

10:30 a.m. — Veterans (followed by members of the Armed Forces, RCMP, OPP, Halton Police, Oakville Firefighters, Knights of Columbus, Cadets, Scouts and Guides, and local dignitaries) depart from Church and Navy streets and march along Lakeshore Road and up Trafalgar Road to the Cenotaph at George’s Square.

11 a.m. — Ceremony at George’s Square includes two minutes of silence and a wreath laying ceremony. After the ceremony, veterans march back to Church and Navy streets.
