Local swimming pools to cool off during the summer heat

swimming pools

The first thing on my mind when it’s hot and sunny is where can we cool off and have some fun? There are lots of places nearby with splash pads, wading pools, beaches and outdoor swimming pools. Check out our list, then back a bag and enjoy the day!

BURLINGTON

Splash Pads: there are 9 spots around the city ready for kids to run through all summer long!

Beachway Park: a great place to stay for the entire day. There’s a playground too but the real draw is the fantastic beach strip (that’s groomed daily). There are showers, washrooms and a snack bar just steps away!

Mountainside Outdoor Pool: A 50-meter, six lane lap pool heated to 84 degrees F with wheelchair access and nearby splashpad.

Lasalle Park Wading Pool: a large wading pool 0.5 – 2.5 feet deep with an adjacent splash pad and picnic areas.

OAKVILLE

Splash Pads: There are 15 splash padsΒ in parks throughout the town, open from 9am – 9pm daily, exceptΒ when adjacent to a school where they will turn on after school hours.

Brookdale Outdoor Pool: Located on the north side of Bridge Road between Third and Fourth Line and is open from May 25 to September 7, inclusive.

Bronte Outdoor Pool: Located on the south side of Hixon Street between Third Line and Bronte Road and will be open from June 20 to September 4, inclusive.

Lions Outdoor Pool: Located on the east side of Felan Avenue off Rebecca Street and will be open from June 20 to September 7, inclusive.

Bronte Creek Provincial Park: Home to one of Canada’s largest outdoor pools! It’s a 1.8 acre pool in the park’s Day-Use area. Perfect for both wading and swimming, it’s a gradual entry pool (6 feet deep at the centre).Β  Lifeguards are on duty. Extra fee to use the pool area.

HAMILTON

Christie Lake: A beautiful setting open from 7am – sundown. Boat rentals (rowboats, canoes, kayaks) are also available.

Dundas Driving Park: A personal favourite. It’s a lush, treed setting with a park and wading pool.

Splash Pads & Wading Pools: There are too many to mention here! Check the link for locations and times.

MILTON

Kelso: a mix of nature and cooling off outdoors. Part of a 35-hectare lake, there is plenty of space to swim, relax, play in the sand and grab a snack at the beach concession stand.
