Sew Hungry, Hamilton’s annual street food festival is the perfect way to spend a Friday – rain or shine. On May 5th from 11am – 8pm, over 28 food trucks from across Ontario will be waiting for you along Ottawa Street. Stop by Sew Hungry for lunch, dinner, a snack, or all three!
Title sponsors for Sew Hungry 2017 will be 102.9 K-Lite FM, and Nickel Brook Brewing Co. This year the addition of a second outdoor beer tent and live music stage will make for a truly unique, and unforgettable experience. “Why did we get involved? Well we have always been community driven and love to give back, plus I’m a big foodie!” Says John Romano, President and Co-Founder at Nickel Brook Brewing Co. “Anything that bings people into the community and showcases local business is a great thing. Eat, drink, shop local!” John is known for his charity work and the brewery is named after his children, Nick and Brooke.
Jason Brown and his team at the Crown Point Community Church have partnered with The Ottawa Street BIA to set up a Kids Zone in the Crown Point Community Church Parking Lot at 92 Ottawa St. N. Local artist Sanjay Patel will host an Interactive Art Station free to all kids! The Kids Zone will offer Children and Parents a quiet and relaxing space to enjoy activities, play on the bouncy castle and listen to performances by local musician Trisha Smith (Music with Miss T).
If it’s the food you’re coming for it’ll be there. Some of Hamilton’s own homegrown favorites like Southern Smoke, Curbside Grill, and Gorilla Cheese in addition to some tasty out-of-towners like Johnny Rocco’s Pizza Wagon and The Flying G’nosh will be serving you this year.
Listen to live music throughout the day in the Laidlaw Memorial Church parking lot at 155 Ottawa St. N. Enjoy performances by Alfie Smith, Nicole Christian, The Pistol Packin’ Preachers and more!
The idea behind Sew Hungry is to help showcase local restaurants by bringing “foodies” to Ottawa St. The event is a great way to reach out to a new customer base. Sew Hungry has won a Provincial and two National awards for innovation along with Social Media efforts, and has exceeded our expectations for exposure through media.
