Meet Dan Robinson, Partner & Chef at The Burnt Tongue. Dan has lived and worked in Hamilton for the past 15 years and is committed to adding culinary excitement to the ever-growing food scene in Hamilton.
What was the inspiration behind The Burnt Tongue?
Home cooking and nostalgia are some of the biggest forces behind Burnt Tongue. I was also tired of working in full scale restaurants with their big menus, so I wanted to tighten things up and just specialize.
Who do you look to for inspiration?
Our customers and their excitement, enthusiasm, and their praise (or constructive criticism) inspires me to keep going, and keep bettering the restaurant. The Burnt Tongue was created for the people of Hamilton so we look to them to guide us.
What’s your favourite thing on the menu?
I love soup (obviously) but it is so hard to pick. We have made over 1000 soups over the years and it is tough to pick just one. So, if I had to pick it would be our Double Jalapeno Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of our fries, as well as Curry Ketchup and Dutch Mayo for dipping.
