Gran-Aurora is part of the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers-to-Grandmothers Campaign. Founded only 10 years ago our mandate is to raise awareness of the plight of African grandmothers who struggle to raise their AIDS-orphaned grandchildren. We do this through public speaking opportunities and fund raising events. Since our beginning, Gran-Aurora has contributed some $85,000.00 to the Campaign! Yet we continue to live out our motto ‘We will not rest until they (the African Grandmothers) can rest.
All profits raised by the Campaign (240 groups across Canada) go through the Foundation to support African Grandmother initiated projects in 15 sub-Saharan countries. Projects are vetted by SLF representatives in those respective countries.
Please join us for a delightful evening with Terry Fallis, winner of the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour and CBC’s Canada Reads for his delightful political satire The Best Laid Plans. Subsequent novels continue to win awards.
Tickets are $20 and may be purchased by contacting Cathy Gross (cathygros@gmail.com) or Sharon Willan (swill4144@gmail.com)
Enjoy complimentary desserts with tea and coffee while shopping for our unique marketplace crafts from 6:45 – 7:30.
