Kick off summer in Oakville! The 2014 Oakville Family Ribfest is a fundraising event organized by the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar. It is a free summer festival that brings families and individuals young and old together to celebrate, have fun, and enjoy great food and live entertainment.
In 2014, Ribfest will boast nine famous ribbers and dozens of great bands and performers. There’s also a free Kids’ Play Zone, artisans, a community marketplace, many other food vendors, plus beer and wine for the adults. The event is totally “green” with everything possible being recycled.
It all takes place the first weekend of summer, June 20-22, 2014, at the Trafalgar Road Campus of Sheridan College at 1430 Trafalgar Rd., Oakville, ON, L6H 2L1 (just three blocks north of the QEW). There is plenty of parking on site (just $10 per car) plus free parking nearby, and Oakville Transit comes right to the gate.
Now in its third year, the Oakville Family Ribfest has been assisted in its start-up costs with a three-year Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant. All proceeds from Ribfest support local Rotary projects, community charities, student bursaries and more, as well as international work such as wells to provide clean water, polio vaccinations, mosquito nets to prevent the spread of malaria, and many other good works.
Oakville’s only Ribfest is a great way to enjoy the first weekend of summer while you help Rotary help others.
What is Rotary? Chartered in 1978, the Rotary Club of Oakville-Trafalgar (RCOT) is one of the more than 34,000 Rotary Clubs world-wide. It carries out projects locally and internationally to help realize Rotary’s humanitarian goals. Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace and around the globe. The 1.2 million Rotarians in nearly every country in the world share a dedication to the ideal of Service Above Self. Rotary clubs are open to people of all cultures and ethnicities and are not affiliated with any political or religious organizations. RCOT meets Thursdays at noon at Otello’s Banquet Hall, 2273 Royal Windsor Dr., Oakville, ON.
