The Blues Hall of Fame celebrates those most significant artists who have forged and advanced Blues history. Since its inception in 1980, The Blues Foundation has inducted members for their historical contribution, impact and overall influence on the Blues. This performance features a rare opportunity to see three living Blues legends and Hall of Fame inductees together on one stage! Anchored by Charlie Musselwhite and his band (2010 inductee), the show also features individual and collaborative performances from James Cotton (2006 inductee) and John Hammond (2011 inductee).
Now in his 69th year as a professional musician, James Cotton lives for the blues. His overwhelmingly powerful harmonica is one of the iconic sounds of the blues. His skills are unrivaled, his story the stuff of legend. Cotton was inducted into the Blues Hall of fame in 2006.
John Hammond was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011. Over the years, the blues singer and guitarist has released 35 albums.“…A blues legend with a voice like Robert Johnson’s and a demeanor that belies his tear-it-up might before an audience…” says The New York Times.
“Legendary is an overused term, but it’s also the only word that suits this heavyweight blues harpist.” says Time Out New York aboutCharlie Musselwhite. Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2010, Musselwhite is also the winner of the 2011 Blues Music Award for Traditional Blues Male Artist of the Year.
