Learn, become empowered, and take action. Our shared environment needs our collective efforts more than ever before, and BurlingtonGreen is excited to offer a variety of fun, educational and rewarding opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in making a positive difference.
TREEific events will take place during September’s National Forest week including an Ask An Arborist webinar (September 20th @ 7pm), a hands-on Tree Loving Care workshop for the morning of September 23rd at Millcroft Park, and the always popular annual Tree Photo Contest will launch online September 17th.
A special Action on Climate Day! event will take place on Sunday, October 1st from 10am to 5pm at the Burlington beach – the location of BurlingtonGreen’s
headquarters. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a variety of demonstration areas and resources highlighting practical, locally-focused solutions to take action on climate change, while learning about cost-saving benefits. Free EV test drives with Plug ‘N Drive, home energy conservation tips, heat pump demos, eco-trivia spin to win, a bike(s) raffle, beach clean up challenge, free giveaways, and more, will be available at this outdoor rain or shine event.

The city-wide Community Clean Up continues this fall inviting residents, groups, schools and workplaces to get outside collecting litter from parks, schoolyards, neighborhoods, and natural areas, before the snow falls. Over 12,000 people have participated in this popular activity during 2023 alone, and BurlingtonGreen is hoping more will join in the eco-action fun as they aim for an ambitious participation goal of 15,000. And the much-anticipated Zero Waste Drop-Off event returns to the Burlington Centre ( mall) on Saturday, October 21st from 10am to 4pm where BurlingtonGreen’s friendly crew will welcome hundreds of community embers dropping off their broken, unwanted electronics to be properly recycled, along with other select items not accepted in Halton’s waste pick up service. Volunteers from the Burlington Repair Cafe will also be in attendance to give new life to smaller household items in need of repair. Details including registration information for all of the fall opportunities are available at www.burlingtongreen.org
