Sound Performance by Timothy Yanick Hunter

Join us for a special afternoon of contemporary art, performance, and poetry—not to be missed!

On the occasion of his exhibition Collapse and Incompletion, artist Timothy Yanick Hunter will give a live sound performance in The Studio at Gairloch Gardens. Hunter will perform a series of new sound works that layer archival materials, voice, and language to experiment with sonic structure and narrative-making.

Hunter’s multidisciplinary artistic practice draws upon techniques originating in music production, such as “referencing,” “sampling,” and “remixing.” Through new and recent works, Collapse and Incompletion creates overlapping sonic, visual, and cultural networks that engage with a wide variety of historical and cultural moments of significance within the Black diaspora. This sound performance acts as an extension of Hunter’s exhibition on view at Oakville Galleries in Gairloch Gardens.
