and al fresco dining at many of the downtown restaurants. Speaking
of music, the TD Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival happens on August 7
and 8 this year, and will showcase more than a dozen bands on stages
throughout the downtown. Plewman states that it’s all part of the plan
to bring people out to celebrate their downtown.
Mayor Rob Burton says downtown Oakville’s many unique qualities
have made this town the envy of others. “Many municipalities have
tried to copy what we have created,” notes Mayor Burton, indicat-
ing that Oakville has been well known for its downtown for several
decades. “People enjoy the wide variety of shopping, culinary and
entertainment choices. There really is something for everyone.”
